About College of Medicine

The University of Sulaimani was established in 1968 and the College of Medicine enrolled its first Group of (91) students for the academic year 1977-1978. The University including the college of Medicine was closed down and transferred to Hawler (Erbil) city in 1981 and its name was changed to the University of Salahaddin, hence the college never witnessed its graduation in July 1983. After the holy Kurdish uprising in March 1991 and the establishment of the Kurdish parliament and Kurdistan regional government, the University of Sulaimani including the college of Medicine was re-established in15th of November 1992. The college celebrated the graduation ceremony of the first batch in July 1998.


The College of Medicine University of Sulaimani (CoM-UoS) aspires to be a regional center of excellence in medical education, scientific research, and health care, dedicated to graduating proficient and ethical physicians who contribute to advancing the frontiers of patient care services and medical knowledge.

By conducting innovative medical research, the (CoM-UoS) aims to enrich the medical literature and improve health services locally, regionally and globally.”



Complementary to the high-quality education system, our college aims to support students in different aspects:

Our college provides excellent teaching classrooms and facilities that ensure an outstanding learning environment.

Financial Support:
Enrolled students will receive a monthly allowance during the study period to ease financial constraints.

For students residing outside the city, we provide dormitories equipped with cleaning services, free WIFI, studying libraries, and sports stadiums.

Despite the proximity of the teaching hospitals to our campus, free transportation is provided to the distant teaching hospitals.
